Merseylearn part of Merseytravel, and is a partnership project which supports people to work in the transport sector on Merseyside.
Any professional role requires skills, training and qualifications but sometimes these can be complicated, or it can be hard to find out who can deliver them, so the role of Merseylearn is to help make this easier for all.
We work with many different partners to provide this information, advice and guidance, including Merseytravel, Unionlearn, a network of colleges and learning providers, licensing authorities and some "strategic" bodies such as the Skills Funding Agency and the Sector Skills Council, GoSkills.
Merseyside depends on transport sector workers for the provision of essential services, and if those services are going to be of the right quality then the people delivering them need to have the right skills.
Different trades need different qualifications, and there are a wide range of providers who can help you gain these, in some cases government funding may be available to help, and you will also need to consider when and where the courses are running.
Whether you are looking to work in the sector or already employed, skills and qualifications are an essential part of getting on, and with our support over 7,000 people have achieved recognised qualifications in Merseyside since 2004
We also run Job Clubs, short advice sessions giving an insight into working in the sector, where you can get more information from experienced people. To join a session please contact Steve Woods on 0151 330 1123 or email stephen.woods@merseytravel.gov.uk .
