The bus network is a key part of the public transport provision on Merseyside which carries thousands of people daily for business, education, leisure, pleasure, tourism, visiting realtives and many other reasons.
Although Merseytravel haven't run the bus services for many years now - they're run by commercial bus companies - we want to make sure that the people of Merseyside get the best possible service.
We know that the provision of the bus is only a part of this, and the professional skills of the driver play a vital part in making sure the journey is safe, comfortable, and that passengers receive the quality of service which we want to see in a world class public transport system.
Merseylearn therefore work with the bus companies to support them to upskill drivers in line with national requirements, such as the driver CPC, and local procurement standards, such as the driver NVQ.
Some bus companies deliver this training in-house, others work through the Merseylearn network of training providers to help drivers get the skills and qualifications they need, bringing benefits to the drivers, the bus operating companies, and, most importantly, the travelling public.
